Monolith is part of a series of short 16mm film sketches made while at the Royal College of Art. It continues the techniques developed while making A Spectral Composition. It was created by filming a white monolith-like structure then rephotographing the filmed image on the rostrum camera, using a combination of mattes and coloured filters. The result is a form that changes rapidly throughout the spectrum, pulsating and visually referring to sci-fi aesthetics.
